Last month, as part of our commitment to the local community, the NIFC secretariat spent a day gardening at the Camphill Community in Holywood.
The Community is a Health-Trust funded live-in centre for adults with learning difficulties to gain life experiences in a supported environment. We helped tidy up after the winter, removing dead leaves, scraping away moss and laying slabs in the 'secret garden' where there is a fire pit and some raised beds for vegetables and fruit bushes.
Aside from the benefits of getting to know one another better, especially our new colleagues Alanna and Celine, we also developed our leadership skills through managing the various tasks through the day.
Deputy Chief of Staff, Roisin, said
This was a great opportunity to contribute to and benefit from the 3 key themes promoted by Business in the Community, developing and getting to know our people, creating partnerships with local communities, and in protecting our planet to build a sustainable future. We had a wonderful day and thank BITC and Camphill Community in Holywood for the opportunity.
