The Fiscal Council holds its first in-person meeting and takes the opportunity to meet with the Finance Minister

The Fiscal Council members and staff met in person for the first time on 8th and 9th September at their offices in Belfast.  Council Chair, Sir Robert Chote said:

After a lot of zooming over previous weeks, it was great for us all finally to meet in Belfast for a really productive couple of days looking at our work programme for the coming year and getting into the nitty gritty of the NI public finances as we prepare our first publication. It was particularly helpful to meet with the Finance Minister and talk about the near-term policy opportunities and challenges facing the Department of Finance, not least the welcome prospect of a return to multi-year budgeting.
