The Fiscal Council has agreed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Finance

The Fiscal Council has agreed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Finance setting out the arrangements to ensure the timely sharing of information. This will enable the Council to perform its duties accurately and efficiently and is also identified as an area of best practice by the OECD to facilitate bodies of this nature to fulfil their functions. The arrangements set out in the MoU will be in place until the Council has been set up as a statutory body.

MoUs with other NI departments will be agreed shortly. These MoUs will cover the initial period of the Council’s work and will be reviewed and amended once the legislation is put in place for the Council in relation to the right of access to information.
